Hi, I'm Remi!

Hi, ik ben Remi!

A New Face of SportSafe(r)

Some people walk into a sports club and immediately feel at ease.

Others first scan the room, looking for answers to questions such as:

  • Who is here?
  • How do people speak to one another?
  • Is there a place for someone like me?
  • Will I have to explain myself?

For many LGBTQIA+ people, that sense of tension is still part of their experience in sport.

That is exactly why SportSafe(r) exists: a project by Out For The Win that helps build safer, more inclusive sporting environments where queer people can move, connect, grow, and take initiative. And Remi is here to guide you through it.

What Remi Stands For

Remi starts from one simple idea:

“You shouldn’t have to choose between being yourself and playing sport.”

That does not mean everything will always be perfect, safe, or easy.

It does mean that we consciously try to create spaces where people can:

  • be less guarded
  • feel less pressure to constantly filter themselves
  • find support
  • find community
  • and gradually rebuild trust in sport

What Safe(r) means to us:

  • clear agreements and expectations
  • respect for boundaries
  • consent
  • intersectional and holistic accessibility
  • room to acknowledge mistakes and learn from them to do better
  • taking responsibility when something goes wrong

Not a perfect sporting world.

But a conscious one.

What You Can Expect from Remi

Remi will:

  • share updates about SportSafe(r)
  • offer behind-the-scenes insights
  • provide tips and tools for inclusive sport
  • answer questions
  • highlight community stories
  • showcase grassroots sports initiatives
  • talk about belonging, joy in sport, and psychological safety
  • help explore ways to make sport more inclusive

Sometimes serious.

Sometimes practical.

Sometimes accompanied by a little chaos and far too many open tabs.

But always grounded in the same principle:

We're building this together.

Not a Hero Story

SportSafe(r) does not want to be a project that arrives with “the solution.”

We believe more in listening, supporting, connecting, sharing knowledge, learning together, and building sustainable networks.

That also means Remi does not have the perfect answer to everything.

Sometimes we will adjust our approach.

Sometimes we will learn from feedback.

Sometimes we will openly acknowledge that something is more difficult than expected.

And honestly?

That is part of building a safe community too.

See You Soon

Maybe you see yourself in Remi.

Maybe you do not.

But hopefully you recognise something else: the idea that sport can be more than competition alone. That sport can also be a place of calm. Or connection, recovery, enjoyment, and community.

Welcome to SportSafe(r).

It's great to meet you, and see you on the playing field!

Best wishes,
Remi
